the shit factory

i got posted on kotaku today and got my first negative comments on the web! I have truly arrived.

but then… negative comments be damned - I sold 7 fire flowers (pretty much all i had!) plus a set of ghosts and some shrinky dinky stuff. all while i did things like eat pizza, played my guitar, and even went to the bathroom (this is the shit factory after all)

then, joey lubitsch (who i’ve known since birth but just ran in to after 6 years of not seeing him) and josh cantor (who i went to freakin HEBREW SCHOOL with and haven’t seen since 4th grade!) came over and we had some beers and played some music. i had a blast.

i’m too happy to sleep. i don’t know what to do with myself (hence the quarterly blog post)

i just finished a bunch of shrinky dink jewelry that i’ll be putting in my etsy shop over the coming days. i’ve actually sold some stuff to people other than my mom now!

next weekend, i’m heading to the video game expo in philly to play games and pass out stickers.

so i started getting e-mails today about eve today, turns out that someone I used to work posted it on digg… go digg that…

i gotta post more. it’s really not that hard…

well, it’s taken 100,000 years, but woo’s site is finally up… one day I’ll finish all these damn projects and the damn basement and I’ll be able to relax…

speaking of 100,000 years, i have to transcribe it for my kiss class. our show is on 10/29 at phylis’ musical lounge in logan square.. makeup and all!

oh poor blog. I neglect you, yet you sit there and continue to exist… weezer is friday. I’m nervous. captain bob’s other site launched a few days ago… ctix launches this weekend, hope my phone don’t ring…

woo hoo! ilaunched 2 sites in the last 2 days: z-flex - a sweet flash site (if i do say so myself) for one of the original skateboard companies, and palwaukee bowl - the bowling alley connected to the hotel i did a site for. it’s nice to finish things. now if we could only finish that integration thing at work… i think we need to call in the national guard.

ok, so it seems that with every flash project i do, at some point, i compile the swf, it works as expected, then i save it and come back to the .fla later and i’ve lost some changes. i swear that i’m just like jesus in that i save, but i seem to keep losing changes…

anyway, i think that there’s a ghost in my computer. john thinks my house is haunted, but i think it’s just inside my pc. why else would it just reboot every once in a while for no reason…

i know this is nonsense, but i noticed today that i’ve neglected the shit factory for almost a month. i need some sort of regular feature to motivate me, or feedback from my dear readers to let me know that someone indeed does care (but of course nobody’s reading this anyway)

I moved duffy’s site over to php from javascript. wow, my first php page… aren’t you impressed…

ok, I’ve added the flickrRSS plugin to place a little filmstrip of photos in the sidebar. I had to make a small change to the source (hard coding my flickr user id), since I couldn’t figure out how to specify a tag and a user, and when I tried to specify a tag of shawn without a user, I got a picture of some random topless guy with his hand i-don’t-want-to-speculate-where which won’t work for me, or for bob since this experiment is to get relevant recent pictures onto his pages…

next is to get the name of the post to control what pictures show up…

update 10 minutes later
now I can specify a “photoTag” custom field on my post, and the photos in the sidebar will be my photos with that tag (this post is dedicated to shana… why? just because). I just need to figure out how to make these changes not as changes to the templates but somewhere more global…

ok, so I set up a flickr account and added a flickr gallery to this thing. I’m using the flickr gallery plugin. it was written before WordPress 1.5, so the directions to set it up aren’t quite right. it looks a little weird now, but I’ll fix it soon. I added some vegas pictures to test. this will eventually become a way to grab photos of different categories for the confusion charters new site.
